However, I recommend having their hazelnut-latte. Thats the only thing that I can recommend without any reservations.

Tip: I would not be too quick on adding sugar to that Hazelnut-Latte!

They serve awesome breakfast there and the prices are a little above the normal, I suppose its reasonable in Canal Walk, what else can you expect.

Today we had simple egg+bacon crossants. What can I say, on a lazy day you don’t need to have anything fancy. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone I love. Not that it wasn’t nice, it was average at best.

I have had their american waffle breakfast and that, I can recommend to anyone. We’ll have a few more stops in Canal Walk over the next few weeks, so hope to find a place we can call home in there.

So, yes this place was a bit of a pain for us because we don’t really like Cecil J Rhodes, but we can not fault Sir Herbet for picking an absolutely stunning spot.

The restaurant itself is cozily situated at the end of the massive 49step staircase from that semi-circle terrace. The place was just buzzing with joy and laughter and the freshness of the air up there almost ‘choked us to life’.

Their breakfast menu is slim, and the waitering service we got was really not admirable. But again, since we were there for the food that mattered little.

Their porched eggs were great, we had the English breakfast with porched. It is their juice, my word! We got 1litre of their freshly squeezed orange juice and it was simply phenomenal! If I could go back there, I’d just order the juice and sit there for an entire day. It’s the only restaurant we’ve been to that serves freshly squeezed orange juice, and to top it off, in a litre!

I would gladly recommend anyone to go up there, ignore the annoying flies and not so friendly service just have their juice and it’ll over shadow all else!

Be sure to carefully check the pricing some things we felt were over priced but who cares, they make excellent juice!

We will be the first to admit that you can never compare a hotel and restaurant, in terms of service.

Be that as it may, we simply had to mention that breakfast from the Set Restaurant is simply top class. We were spoilt for choice. We had a full breakfast, that is just shot of 9 plates of servings. Now that is indeed the breakfast of champions! A deep breath is necessary before diving in!

If it were possible for us to add more stars to it, we would rate it 9 star! We had breakfast there recently and we didn’t even bother having lunch.

Its not cheap; but its worth having once in a while. We are looking forward going there soon…

Today we went off to explore new ‘territories’ and were desperately conquered! It was war with the food and the food was indeed victorious!

Lazari is a tiny little restaurant (they call it a food gallery) at the corner of Upper Maynard & Vredehoek. I would gladly recommend it to my friends with sweet toothes & lighter skin!

Yeh, if you’re of a darker skin; expect little waitering service – a less than lukewarm reception is what we got. I suspect its a community restaurant where everyone knows everyone. Our being there might’ve spoilt many an appetite.

I had ‘flap jacks & bacon’ for the first time ever! They were just phenomenally awesome!! I’ll try that combination again soon I hope! After I get the calories lecture of course… Wifey had her usual omellete which she loved dearly.

I’m not too keen on going back there; but I think wifey might drag me back there (She loved the community feel; though we’re not yet welcome in it!! ).

Go there with as a group and believe you me you’ll have a brilliant time. Aww did I mention the HUGE FRESH muffins??

Listen just go there and try anything, everything is excellent I am sure of it!!

We had our average breakfast at The Villa Tavern, Upper Buitenkant Street. We recommend going there for pizza and good company and; as you would expect, a couple of drinks…

Try breakfast elsewhere..

There’s always this unattractive looking restaurant, which is usually right in the middle of all the good looking ones. And you always wonder how the raggedy odd thing makes money and why oh why it always seems so busy and filled!

So we checked out one of these places, Cafe Mojito. It’s in upper Long Street, next to long street cafe, close to dreaded Dubliner. The moment we stepped inside, we suddenly realised that it’s not half as bad.

The food was palatable and the service was above average. We were served with great breakfast; I think they call it, Mojito breakfast. Just pick their breakfast that has a ‘fried banana, sausage, eggs, touch of chips/fries’. If you’re watching your calories; they have just enough chips/fries to satisfy your cravings!

It definitely exceeded our expectations. It’s definitely a gem and would recommend them.

Of the dozens of places we have been to, this is the only place we typically go to whenever we are feeling lazy of going anywhere else. It is like home for us.

When you have a serious hang over, they have the best remedy for it, the aptly named ‘hangover breakfast’! It is probably the biggest breakfast I have ever had. Believe you me that hangover meal is not for the faint of heart!

When you’re in gardens, stop by Crème restaurant and enjoy quality service and vast menu breakfasts.

If you’re ever there request to be served by Archie. Best waitering service ever!! And try their chicken burger on lettuce as a substiture to the  rolls… just brilliant!!
